Abelag Introduces Phenom 100 to its Customer Base

Source: fly-corporate.com

Last week, Brussels-based aviation, handling and technics provider Abelag held a series of one-on-one meetings with customers to introduce them to Embraer's Phenom 100, which Abelag will take delivery of in 2010 and 2011.

Abelag has developed a comprehensive co-ownership programme around the entry-level light aircraft, which allows customers to own a 1/8 (50 hrs) or ¼ (100 hrs) share of the aircraft for an attractive price (under US$1M for ¼ share and under US$500.000 for 1/8). Abelag explains that what sets its co-ownership programme apart from traditional fractional ownership schemes is that they guarantee a fixed monthly fee that includes insurance & spare parts, management, maintenance and hangarage. Estimated variable costs per flight (fuel, engine reserves and air traffic control) are around €526 per flight. The other variable cost per flight covers crew, overnight, airport costs, catering, etc.

"We chose the Phenom because Embraer is a well-known and experienced manufacturer," Dominiek Deman, Sales Director, Abelag, explained to FlyCorporate. "And the Phenom 100 offers more than other competing VLJs [notably the Citation Mustang]. There are real air stairs, large windows - which is very important, a bigger cabin, club seating, a fantastic BMW-designed interior and an aft lavatory. It's light and spacious.

"I'd say the Mustang is probably great for pilot owners, but the Phenom 100 is really designed with the passenger in mind."

When asked about the higher price tag on Embraer's Phenom 100 compared with Cessna's Citation Mustang, Deman replied: "Sure the Phenom 100 costs more money but you also get more aircraft!"

With this new programme, Abelag aims to open up business aviation to a new customer segment in the Benelux, one that is keen on newly experiencing the benefits of private flying. Abelag will have 3 Phenom 100 in its fleet that will be available to programme members, and it will make use of its CJ2 fleet if necessary to ensure aircraft availability to all clientele.
