Coast Guard medevacs Indonesian man southeast of Cordova

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak aircrew aboard an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter safely medevaced a 38-year-oldIndonesian crewmember off the cruise ship Ryndam 110 miles southeast of Cordova Monday.
The 17th Coast Guard District command center in Juneau received a call from the Ryndam via satellite phone at approximately 6:55 p.m. requesting a medevac for a crewmember reportedly suffering from weakness and loss of consciousness.
A Station KodiakDolphin aircrew pre-deployed in Cordova was diverted from a training mission at 7:48 p.m. afterthe Coast Guard duty flight surgeon reccommended theman be medevaced. Once on scene, theDolphin safely hoisted the crewmember and transferred him to Valdez where local emergency medical services were waiting.
The patient was reportedin stable condition.
