Orders, backlog move higher at Bombardier

WICHITA - The parent of Bombardier Learjet said today its revenue and net income were lower than the same quarter a year ago.

Montreal, Canada-based Bombardier said revenue in the first quarter ended April 30 was $4.2 billion compared to $4.5 billion, and net income was $153 million compared to $158 million in the same period.

The company said its aerospace unit delivered 53 aircraft in the quarter compared to 75 the year before. It took 61 net orders for aircraft in the period compared to nine in 2009.

Its backlog is $17.3 billion versus $16.7 billion last year.
