Aviation News Item: 09079 28th May 2010 FAA announces ADS-B performance standards Source: ubmaviationnews.com The FAA announced the performance requirements for Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) equipment under the NextGen air transportation system yesterday (May 27). Aircraft flying in airspace including classes A, B, C, around busy airports, and above 10,000 feet will be required to broadcast their position via ADS-B by 2020. The rule mandates that the broadcast signal meet specific requirements in terms of accuracy, integrity, power and latency. "This rule gives the green light for manufacturers to begin building the onboard equipment," said Randy Babbitt, FAA Administrator. |
