JET AVIATION BASEL MODIFIES BOEING 727 AUXILIARY TANKS

Source: bartintl.com

Jet Aviation is currently completing its final modification on a Boeing 727 to comply with SFAR 88. These modifications were introduced to help prevent the potential for ignition sources within aircraft fuel tanks. As one of only two worldwide authorized PATS Aircraft Systems modification centers for auxiliary fuel tank maintenance, Jet Aviation has worked in total on 23 aircraft in relation to SFAR 88 compliance.
According to Michael Sattler, senior vice president MRO & refurbishment services, Jet Aviation Basel, "These modifications are quite extensive and can take up to six weeks to complete. They have involved the removal of the auxiliary fuel tanks from the forward and aft baggage/cargo bays for modification and extensive cabin access to replace the complete auxiliary fuel system wiring loom."
