Aviation News Item: 00735 20th May 2009 787: APU running Source: ubmaviationnews.com Hamilton Sundstrand has said that yesterday, May 19, Boeing started up the company's APS 5000 auxiliary power unit (APU) on the Dreamliner's prototype ZA001 for the first time. The power aggregate is considered Boeing's first "more-electric APU". It is rated at 1,100 shaft horsepower and designed to start and operate throughout the full range of the 787 operating envelope up to 43,000ft. |
