Aviation News Item: 07339 13th Apr 2010 Merpati 737 overshoots runway in Papua Source: ubmaviationnews.com A Merpati 737-300 overshot the runway after landing at Manokwari airport in Indonesia's West Papua region at approximately 11.00am local time (02.00am UTC) today. No fatalities have been reported among the 103 people onboard, but approximately 20 people have been injured. The aircraft, which was arriving from Sorong, Indonesia, broke apart and came to halt in a river approximately 200m (660ft) beyond the end of runway 35. According to media reports, it was heavily raining when the passenger jet landed. |
