Russian certification authorities have approved the latest variant of the Tupolev Tu-204, an executive version of the twin-jet.

The aircraft - designated the Tu-204-300A - is fitted with auxiliary fuel tanks, giving it a flight duration of 12 hours, says Tupolev design bureau.

Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee issued a supplementary type certificate on 19 March.

Configured with a VIP interior, the jet is capable of accommodating 18 passengers and features a bedroom, shower, and entertainment systems.

It has been based on the airframe registered RA-64010, originally built as a Tu-204-100, which appeared at the MAKS Moscow 2009 air show last August.

Tupolev says the aircraft has been undergoing acceptance testing in preparation for delivery to its customer.
