Aviation News Item: 00693 4th Jun 2009 First flight of Lockheed Martin's partly composite Dornier 328J Source: ubmaviationnews.com Lockheed Martin said it has conducted the initial demonstration flight of the experimental "Advanced Composite Cargo Aircraft" (ACCA) together with the US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) on Tuesday, June 2. This flight marks the final milestone of phase two of AFRL's ACCA programme, in which the company replaced the mid/aft fuselage and empennage of a Dornier 328J aircraft with a composite structure. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of approximately 10,000ft where the two-pilot crew took it through a series of airspeed, stability and control tests. |
