Aviation News Item: 00668 11th Jun 2009 FAA to inspect pilot training at regional airlines Source: ubmaviationnews.com As a result of the ongoing National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into the fatal Colgan Air accident on February 12, 2009, US transportation secretary Ray LaHood and FAA administrator Randy Babbitt have ordered FAA inspectors to immediately focus inspection on pilot training programmes, to ensure that regional airlines comply with federal regulations. They also said they will gather representatives from the major air carriers, their regional partners, aviation industry groups and labour in Washington DC on Monday, June 15, to participate in a "call to action" to improve airline safety and pilot training. One of the summit's aims is to foster mentoring relationships between mainline carriers and their regional partners. |
