Belgian cargo and passenger charter carrier TNT Airways and Sabena technics have agreed to set up a joint venture (JV) maintenance company at Liege Airport, the airline's base. The initial aim is to provide line and light maintenance services to its fleet of 737 and BAe146 aircraft. However the two parent firms are planning to offer third-party component maintenance: landing gear, wheels and brakes, and engineering services. The JV is to start its operations as of October 2009 subject to prior approval being obtained from the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority and clearance from the competition authorities.
