Aviation News Item: 00658 16th Jun 2009 BA and SAS select Goodrich for engine MRO service Source: ubmaviationnews.com British Airways (BA) has signed a long-term service agreement with Goodrich covering engine controls systems for the airline's 747 and 767 aircraft. The agreement covers over 300 Rolls-Royce RB211-524 engines for a minimum of five years. The company engine control systems services team, predominantly at Birmingham, UK, is to perform the services. BA currently operates the world's largest fleet of RB211 engines. Simultaneously the US company was able to win a service agreement with Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) to provide thrust reverser overhaul services on all V2500 engines that power the carrier's A320 aircraft. The five-year contract is valued at roughly $8m; work will be performed at the company's service centre in Prestwick, Scotland. |
