Aviation News Item: 00654 17th Jun 2009 GE Aviation and Mubadala to extend MRO cooperation Source: ubmaviationnews.com General Electric (GE) Aviation and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala), the state-owned parent firm of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) - which in turn holds a 70 per cent share in Zurich-based SR Technics - today signed an agreement to designate ADAT as a network provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for GEnx-1B and -2B engines. The facility is to become fully operational in 2013 and service, for example, the engines of Etihad Airways' fleet of 35 787 aircraft, which the airline signed up to yesterday. GE is also to support ADAT in obtaining modular assembly/disassembly capability for Etihad's fleet of 36 GE90-115B engines (current and on order); the US firm is to designate ADAT as a member of its global network of on-wing support (OWS) providers for GE90-115B engines. Furthermore, GE is to provide ADAT (CFM56-5A/B/C, CF6-50/80C) and SR Technics (CFM56-5B/C) with engine overhaul and technical support. GE and Mubadala confirmed a 10-year OnPoint solutions agreement to provide its MRO companies with new and used serviceable parts, component and accessory repair for the above mentioned CFM56 and CF6 engines. |
