The US department of commerce has given General Electric (GE) India approval to import previously restricted US technology without having to apply for individual clearances. This validated end-user (VEU) authorisation, which includes aerospace, energy and security technology, is integral in expanding the company's business in the Asian nation. GE India is the first Indian firm to receive VEU approval from the US.
