Aviation News Item: 00624 22nd Jun 2009 Qantas reports severe turbulence on A330 flight Source: ubmaviationnews.com Severe turbulence was encountered by a Qantas A330-300 en route from Hong Kong to Perth last night. The aircraft was over Borneo, Malaysia, approximately four hours out of Hong Kong, when the incident occurred. It has been reported that, out of the 206 passengers and 13 flight crew onboard, six passengers and one crew member sustained minor injuries, which were treated immediately. The aircraft continued its journey to Perth where it landed at 7.50am local time (23.50UTC). The airline has issued a statement saying: "there is no reason to link the incident to other recent in-flight incidents involving A330 aircraft." The incident has been reported to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). |
