Aviation News Item: 00614 24th Jun 2009 VLM inks PW100 MRO contract with Volvo Aero Source: ubmaviationnews.com Belgium-based regional carrier VLM Airlines has signed a five-year agreement with Volvo Aero to provide PW100 engine maintenance for its F50 turboprops. The Air France KLM regional airline subsidiary, which is to be renamed Cityjet by the end of 2009, operates a fleet of 18 F50 aircraft. "Although the agreement will not create any new jobs, it will ensure the continued employment of personnel in our maintenance operations," said Staffan Svensson, head of engine services at Volvo Aero. As Aviation Industry News reported on June 11, 2009, the Swedish aerospace company has cut 160 white collar jobs at its main facility in Trollhattan. |
