First 747-8F: wing joined to body

Source: ubmaviationnews.com

Boeing has joined the wing to the central fuselage section of the first 747-8 freighter. Workers attached the 40ft (12m) fuselage section to the centre wing box in the final assembly bay at the factory in Everett, Washington. The wing and centre section are now being prepared for the final body join, when the assembly will be connected to the forward and aft fuselage sections. "The airplane is coming together well and will be ready to fly later this year as planned,"said Mo Yahyavi, VP and GM of the 747 Programme. Boeing currently has 78 orders from various cargo operators for the 747-8 along with 27 orders for the 787-8 passenger version.
