Aviation News Item: 00590 2nd Jul 2009 SITA develops solution for airline emissions regulation Source: ubmaviationnews.com Air transport IT provider SITA has developed a scaleable global solution to comply with Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS). Four airlines from the Middle East, US and Europe are reportedly testing the "Aircraft Emissions Manager", which is the world's first monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) software tool to measure carbon emissions from aircraft operators, according to the company. The deadline for airlines to finalise their plans for monitoring and reporting carbon dioxide emissions to the EU is August 31, 2009. SITA says the software becomes commercially available in October. |
