Aviation News Item: 05669 24th Feb 2010 Bombardier becomes first OEM with AFRA accreditation Source: ubmaviationnews.com Bombardier said it has become the first OEM to have been accredited by the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA). The accreditation covers the tearing down of CRJ100/200 aircraft at the company's facilities in Bridgeport, West Virginia, and Tucson, Arizona. The Canadian airframer said last August that it would work in conjunction with Magellan Aircraft Services of Charlotte, North Carolina, to disassemble CRJ100/200 aircraft, refurbish useable components and remarket them to operators. Bombardier estimates that each of the 10 CRJ100/200 aircraft covered under the initial agreement has an estimated 1,500 serviceable parts, including 300 line replaceable units. |
