Aviation News Item: 00535 20th Jul 2009 Longer line maintenance intervals for CRJ700/705/900 NG and Q400 aircraft Source: ubmaviationnews.com Transport Canada (TC), the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have finally approved adjustments to line maintenance intervals for CRJ700/705/900 NG and Q400 aircraft as part of the approval of the maintenance requirements manuals (MRM). CRJ700/705/900 NG line maintenance check intervals have been increased from 400 to 600 flight hours. In 2008, approval was obtained to also increase line maintenance check (Acheck) intervals for the Q400 aircraft from 400 to 600 flight hours. Bombardier employed a new methodology, which combines a statistical approach with actual maintenance check findings to predict maintenance requirements. Under the former process, changes to aircraft maintenance intervals could only be requested following five years of in-service data. Now, maintenance interval adjustments could be set based on as few as two years of successful results. |
