West Atlantic selects Universal Avionics to outfit ATPs with glass cockpit

Source: ubmaviationnews.com

UK-based regional cargo carrier West Atlantic, the recently merged entity of West Air Sweden and Atlantic Airlines, has selected Universal Avionics of Tucson, Arizona, to provide glass cockpit upgrades to a fleet of BAe ATP turboprops. How many aircraft of the airline's fleet of 41 ATPs will be modified has not been disclosed. The installation and certification, which will be completed by a partnership between West Atlantic and Scandinavian Avionics, will include a five-panel suite of Universal's EFI-890R flat panel displays and Vision-1(r) synthetic vision system (SVS). Certification paperwork for European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval will be submitted by the end of this year with acceptance expected early 2010.
