Aviation News Item: 00510 27th Jul 2009 Third Superjet 100 joins flight test programme Source: ubmaviationnews.com The third Sukhoi Superjet 100 flight test aircraft, SN 95004, took to the air from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia on Saturday, July 25. Prior to this, the flight test programme included two flying aircraft, SN 95001 and SN 95003. This first flight of SN 95004 began at 19.44 local time and lasted one hour and 21 minutes. The purpose of the flight was to check the safe operation of the aircraft's systems. SN 95004 will undergo testing of the passenger cabin and avionics; it will be the first aircraft to be completely fitted with passenger equipment and the certification-ready avionics suite. Upon completion of a few factory test flights and painting, the aircraft will fly via Novosibirsk, Russia to the flight test centre in the Moscow region and join the other two aircraft for their certification flights. Later, SN 95004 will undergo a series of tests in Italy that will include checks on community noise level, the instrument landing system (ILS), precision navigation (P-RNAV) and high intensity radiated field (HIRF) tests. Thus far the programme has accumulated about 700 flight hours in over 270 flights, which included flutter, natural icing, high angles of attack and other tests. |
