Aviation News Item: 00466 10th Aug 2009 A320 successor to be assembled in Hamburg Source: ubmaviationnews.com Airbus' next-generation single-aisle aircraft is to be assembled in Hamburg. Such an agreement was reportedly reached as part of loan negotiations between the airframer and the governments of France, Germany, Spain and the UK for the A350 XWB. For the first time, France will have a higher work share than Germany in the new long-haul aircraft, which will be assembled in Toulouse using largely the existing A330/A340 final assembly facilities. In return Germany has demanded a greater share in the A320 successor model, internally known as A30X, which is planned to enter service in 2020 at the earliest. |
