Aviation News Item: 00452 12th Aug 2009 SAS and Avinor test green approaches at Tromso Source: ubmaviationnews.com Norwegian airport operator Avinor and SAS have tested optimised landing approaches based on satellite navigation at Tromso airport yesterday, August 11. Compared to a regular approach, the automatically flown manoeuvre reduced CO2 emissions by 300kg, according to the company. The test was carried out using a 737NG with two pilots from SAS as well as experts from Avinor and Norway's civil aviation authority on board. Tromso was chosen because it is topographically one of the most demanding airports for the aircraft's systems. |
