AMSTAT UPDATE SHOWS SIGNS OF IMPROVEMENT IN BIZAV MARKET
Source: bartintl.com
The worldwide inventory of used business jets for sale has decreased from its peak of 18% of the fleet last summer to 16.2% in January, according to a market update report released today by AMSTAT, the leading provider of corporate aviation fleet and operator information. According to Tom Benson, Executive Vice President of AMSTAT, although market conditions are still not great, "it would seem that for the pre-owned business aircraft market, the worst is probably behind us". The report goes on to point out that business jet resale retail transaction activity has increased from 1.5% of the worldwide fleet in Q1 of 2009 to 2.7% of the fleet in Q4 2009. According to Benson, fourth quarter increases in transactions are common, and thus "although the Q4 2009 data is very promising, whether or not the market is able to sustain these improvements in the current quarter will be a very telling sign of how quickly we can expect to see a recovery to market conditions that we can refer to as 'good'". The full market update report, which also includes information on business turboprop aircraft, will appear in the February issue of CAMP InSight magazine, and can be viewed today on the Aircraft Shopper Online website at: http://www.aso.com/AMSTATMarketUpdate.pdf. AMSTAT also submits monthly Market Analysis articles covering a wide range of topics to the Articles section of the ASO website (www.aso.com). Monthly updates of the data referenced within the market update report are accessible via AMSTAT's StatPak market information service.
