The UK CAA is to upgrade the small class E segment of the Durham Tees Valley control zone (CTR) to class D and the class D control area (CTA) above it will be absorbed into the existing class D CTR. The changes will take effect on October 22, 2009. Overall, there will be no change to the lateral or vertical limits to Durham Tees Valley's controlled airspace. Instrument arrival procedures to the airport and arrangements for crossing the CTR/CTA will also remain unchanged.
