Aviation News Item: 00414 21st Aug 2009 Hamilton Sundstrand to provide systems for MC-21 Source: ubmaviationnews.com Irkut, the subsidiary of Russia's state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has selected Hamilton Sundstrand to supply several systems for the planned MC-21 commercial aircraft family. The US company is to develop the electric-power generating system, secondary electrical power distribution, APU, wing anti-ice and bleed air conditioning for the nitrogen generation system. Together with its partner NPO Nauka, the firm will jointly develop the air management system. Kidde Aerospace & Defense, a Hamilton Sundstrand subsidiary, has been selected to supply the fire detection and suppression system. The award is expected to be worth approximately $2.3bn over the life of the programme. The MC-21 is designed to accommodate between 150 and 230 passengers in three basic versions and should enter service in 2016. |
