Aviation News Item: 00403 25th Aug 2009 Autoclave for A350 XWB production arrives in Nordenham Source: ubmaviationnews.com Premium AEROTEC, the German EADS subsidiary for aerostructures, took delivery of a 27m (88.6ft) long autoclave for the production of A350 XWB forward fuselage sections. The South Korean-made autoclave has a usable length of 21m (69ft), a usable diameter of over seven metres (23ft) and weighs about 320 metric tonnes. Once installed in the A350 hall, currently under construction, the autoclave's first cure cycle is planned for the turn of the year. It is expected to be fully available for production from the spring of 2010. The company is investing approximately €360m ($515.6m) between 2009 and 2011 for the production infrastructures of the aircraft. |
