Aviation News Item: 00402 26th Aug 2009 Boeing to apply for construction permit in South Carolina Source: ubmaviationnews.com Boeing is to file permit applications today for the construction of a 787 assembly facility in North Charleston, South Carolina, the location of Vought Aircraft Industries, which it recently acquired. However, the airframer has reportedly said the permit application was merely a "procedural step" and that it had not made a decision where the planned second Dreamliner assembly line would be built. Other possible locations considered are in California and Texas, but similar permit applications have not yet been filed, according to media reports. |
