Tug Hill Receives First Phenom 300

Source: aviationweek.com

Tug Hill Aviation of Ft. Worth, Texas, took delivery of Phenom 300 serial number 5 last Wednesday, thus becoming the first operator of Embraer's newest jet.

The firm is an affiliate of Tug Hill, Inc, a privately held, diversified U.S. domestic oil and gas investment company. A Tug Hill official said the company was both "firm and flexible" in negotiations with Embraer Executive Aircraft, thereby enabling the firm to take delivery before the end of 2009 to qualify for bonus depreciation.

Serial Number 5 will be based at Ft. Worth-Meacham Field and it will operated by Kansas City-based Executive Air Share, a management firm that operated Tug Hill's previous aircraft, a Cessna Conquest I. The Tug Hill official said that the aircraft primarily will be used in support of the company's transportation needs. It also may be used in air charter and perhaps leased back to Embraer as a demonstrator.

The Tug Hill official said he's flown aboard Phenom 300 Serial Number 5 and that it is "far quieter" than the Phenom 100. He also said that the interior fit and finish is top notch, considerably improved over the cabin of the Phenom 300 that was on display at the 2009 NBAA Convention.

In December 2009, Embraer disclosed that Phenom 300 can depart at MTOW and climb directly to FL 450 in 25 minutes. Its maximum range with six occupants and NBAA IFR reserves was extended to 1,971 nm at an average cruise speed of 387 KTAS.

Serial Number 6, originally slated to be the first retail delivery, will be delivered in February 2010 to a west coast US customer, according to another aircraft management and delivery services firm.
