Aviation News Item: 00368 3rd Sep 2009 FAA orders Pitot replacement on A330/A340 aircraft Source: ubmaviationnews.com The FAA has followed the EASA airworthiness directive (AD) from July 31, which orders operators of A330/A340 aircraft with Thales-made Pitot tubes to replace at least two of the aircraft's three airspeed indication probes with ones made by Goodrich, with one of its own. The US administration wants a maximum of one Thales BA type probe to be fitted on the aircraft (first officer airspeed indication system) aside from two Goodrich Pitot tubes (for captain and standby systems). The FAA AD will be effective on September 8. |
