Aviation News Item: 00353 8th Sep 2009 COMAC to select engines for first C919s by the end of 2009 Source: ubmaviationnews.com The Commercial Aircraft Cooperation of China (COMAC) is to decide by the end of this year, which foreign-built aero engines are to power the first generation of the proposed C919 aircraft, according to media reports. However, in the long term the aircraft, which is designed as a 737/A320 competitor, is to be equipped with powerplants engineered and manufactured in China. The first flight is scheduled for 2014 with the entry into service (EIS) following in 2016. |
