Aviation News Item: 00335 11th Sep 2009 Flybe wins government funding for new training academy Source: ubmaviationnews.com Flybe, Europe's largest regional airline, has won a £4.3m ($7.2m) grant from the UK government's learning and skills council (LCC) to build a new training academy for flight crew, cabin crew and engineers at Exeter. The Flybe Training Academy is estimated to cost £24m ($40m) and is scheduled to open in March 2010. The regional development agency for southwest England has already announced in June that it will contribute an additional £2.8 ($4.7m) to the academy, which is to provide training not only to the carrier's own staff but also other airlines and companies in the transport industry. |
