Aviation News Item: 00331 14th Sep 2009 TAM set to expand MRO operations Source: ubmaviationnews.com Brazilian airline TAM is to offer MRO services to other airlines in a bid to increase revenues from its maintenance unit. "We are looking for more business from the unique unit that we have," David Barioni, CEO, said. The announcement comes after TAM's Sao Paulo MRO unit recently received FAA certification for all major programmed maintenance operations, making it the only Brazilian MRO to receive certification from the US, European and Brazilian agencies. Barioni added that TAM plans to open three new hangers at the site by 2011 and will decide by the end of the year whether to include a strategic partner for the venture or whether to seek financial backing. |
