Aviation News Item: 00311 18th Sep 2009 Ground broken at StandardAero facility Source: ubmaviationnews.com StandardAero has broken ground on a 27,000ft2 expansion at its Winnipeg facility in support of future CFM56 MRO work. StandardAero is to become a GE 'Designated Fulfillment Center' for CFM56-7B engines, and has already signed a contract with WestJet to carry out MRO work on the airline's fleet of CFM56-7 engines. The newly-announced expansion to StandardAero's Plant 6 building is in addition to a recently added 80,000ft2 expansion, bringing the total square footage of the building to 162,000ft2. The building will include a test cell capable of up to 50,000lb thrust. Both CF34 and CFM56 work will be completed in the building. |
