Aviation News Item: 00297 23rd Sep 2009 Superjet completes high altitude takeoff and landing tests Source: ubmaviationnews.com Sukhoi's Superjet 100 has completed high altitude takeoff and landing tests at Shirak Airport at Gyumri, Armenia, which is located at an altitude of 5000ft (1524m) and has a 10,650ft (3220m) long runway. The airfield is hemmed in by the surrounding mountains and, hence, available for takeoff and landing only from the southern side. The majority of the takeoffs were performed with one engine failure imitation at maximum take-off weight, according to the Russian airframer. The test programme also included missed approach flights (go-around) with one simulated engine failure. The system performance proved the compliance with the certification requirements. |
