Malaysia's civil aviation authority chooses ATC equipment from SELEX Sistemi Integrati

Source: ubmaviationnews.com

Malaysia's civil aviation authority has signed a contract worth approximately €26m ($37.9m) with SELEX Sistemi Integrati to supply civilian air traffic control (ATC) systems for eight of the country's airports. The contract covers the updating of the national ATC centre in Kuala Lumpur, of the regional control centres at the airports of Kuching and Kota Kinabalu and the modernisation of terminal area control centres and control towers at the airports of Sibu, Langkawi, Penang, Miri and Tawau. For the last of these airports the Italian company will also supply an ATCR 33-S primary radar system, which will be integrated with the existing SIR-S secondary radar system. The contract may be extended to modernise the simulation and training centres in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
