Gulfstream Aerospace rolled out its G650, the company's new flagship business jet, at its headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, yesterday (September 29). The aircraft has a new fuselage cross section, which gives it a wider and taller cabin than the previous top-of-the-line G550 model. It is designed to travel 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and has a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925, which will make it the fastest civil aircraft flying, according to the OEM; maximum cruising altitude will be 51,000ft. The aircraft, which rolled out under its own power, is scheduled for its first flight later this year and is expected to be certified in 2011; entry-into-service is planned for 2012.
