Xi'an Aircraft Industry (XAC), located in the Shaanxi province in central China, is to start manufacturing fully-equipped wing sets for Airbus' A320-family assembly line in Tianjin in October, Chinese media have reported. XAC has thus far produced A320 wing box structures, which are shipped to the UK for completion with control surfaces and all other systems, and then sent back to China for final aircraft assembly. The first Chinese made, fully equipped A320 wing set is to be delivered in the first quarter of 2010. Airbus plans to build a logistics centre in Tianjin to facilitate the transport of aircraft parts and assemblies.
