Aviation News Item: 00256 5th Oct 2009 Babbitt names non-respondents to 'Call for Action' plan Source: ubmaviationnews.com Randy Babbitt, FAA administrator, has released a list of 30 US airlines who have not responded to the administration's 'Call to Action' with written commitments to implement several "best practices" and to adhere to the highest professional standards. However, he noted that "several of the carriers who did not actually respond in writing are already using the key safety programmes we asked for - flight operations quality assurance (FOQA) and aviation safety action program (ASAP). And some carriers may simply be too small or have too limited operations for FOQA programmes to be practical." The FAA also released a list naming the Allied Pilot Association as the single one out of seven US pilot unions that did not respond with a written commitment. |
