Aviation News Item: 00245 7th Oct 2009 Norwegian Air Shuttle selects SITA for ACARS services Source: ubmaviationnews.com Norwegian Air Shuttle has signed a five-year contract with air transport communications specialist SITA to provide ACARS (aircraft communication addressing and reporting system) services for their fleet of 58 737-800 aircraft, the last of which is due to be delivered by 2014. The airline will use 'AIRCOM' VHF datalink and the 'AIRCOM Service Bureau' messaging platform to provide a link between the cockpit and its operations and technical centres. The service will also allow carrier to meet the EU's Single European Sky requirements for all new aircraft supplied after 2011 to be equipped with controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC). |
