Aviation News Item: 00231 13th Oct 2009 Lufthansa relaunches inflight Internet Source: ubmaviationnews.com Lufthansa has said it will relaunch FlyNet, its on-board broadband Internet service, in the middle of next year. The service will be provided in partnership with Panasonic and include inflight data transfer over standard GSM/GPRS mobile networks aside from WLAN Internet access. Passengers will be able to send SMS messages by mobile phone and transfer data via smartphones such as PDA, iPhone or BlackBerry devices. The German airline offered Internet access between May 2004 and the end of 2006, when the service was withdrawn by its then partner Connexion by Boeing. |
