Aviation News Item: 00227 13th Oct 2009 EASA issues AD to modify wing-ice detection system on CRJs Source: ubmaviationnews.com EASA has issued an AD, effective October 16, to modify the wing-ice detection system on certain Bombardier CL-600-2B19 aircraft. The AD was originally issued by Transport Canada on September 30. It reports that "there have recently been several in-service occurrences that have highlighted the inability of the existing system to detect a low-heat condition in the wing leading edge at all times, with the potential consequence of unannunciated asymmetric ice build-up on the wing." The authorities require operators to revise the aircraft's flight manual (AFM) and maintenance schedule, replace the anti-ice system's data concentrator units (DCU), and install additional low-heat detection switches in the wing outboard leading edges. |
