Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services, a JV between the airframer, Shanghai Airlines and the city's airport authority formed in 2006, has opened a new two-bay hangar at Shanghai Pudong Airport. At the moment the company concentrates on 737NG line and heavy maintenance services, including upgrades for interiors, avionics and inflight entertainment systems. With the 787 on the horizon, however, it also plans to expand to widebody maintenance as well as passenger-to-freighter conversions.
