Aviation News Item: 00209 19th Oct 2009 Boeing: 787 structural modification proceeds well and aircraft will fly in 2009 Source: ubmaviationnews.com Following media reports last week claiming the 787's structural modification did not meet expectations in terms of strength and may need further engineering, Boeing has reiterated that the modification work is progressing as planned. "The design of the side-of-body solution is on track. Installations of the fittings are proceeding well and we are pleased with the progress we are making on this important effort," said Scott Fancher, VP and GM of the Dreamliner programme. "We continue to be on track to fly the 787 by the end of the year." The company will release more detail during its third-quarter earnings call on October 21. |
