Aviation News Item: 00207 20th Oct 2009 Singapore's CAA approves ST Aerospace's pilot academy Source: ubmaviationnews.com The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has approved ST Aerospace's commercial pilot training subsidiary, ST Aviation Training Academy (STATA), as a flight training organisation (FTO). The approval eliminates the previous practise of having to convert licences obtained from foreign FTOs to a CAAS licence. The flight academy has been operating under an air operator's certificate from Australia's Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA) since October 2008, which allows STATA to train cadets to achieve the CASA commercial pilot licence/instrument rating. The campus had also obtained the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) CCAR141 approval to train flight crew for Chinese airlines. |
