Aviation News Item: 00200 22nd Oct 2009 Rolls-Royce introduces AE 3007A2 engine Source: ubmaviationnews.com Rolls-Royce has officially introduced the AE 3007A2 engine, the latest version of the AE 3007 series. The -A2 model is the only powerplant that is available for the Embraer Legacy 650 executive jet. The 9,000lb engine is expected to be certified in the second half of 2010, with entry-into-service (EIS) on the Legacy 650 to take place in the same year. It features a higher flow, more efficient wide-chord fan and updated software that should yield higher efficiency and optimise long range cruise fuel consumption. The new fan incorporates 38.5in compound swept fan blades with a new bypass vane and core vane. High altitude takeoff and climb thrust have been improved between six and 12 per cent compared with its predecessor. |
