Aviation News Item: 00199 22nd Oct 2009 Southwest debuts 'Green Plane' Source: ubmaviationnews.com Southwest Airlines has said it will test different cabin interior materials and equipment on one of its aircraft to evaluate how the company could become more environmentally friendly. These products used on the 'Green Plane'-named 737-700 include carpet that can be completely recycled; two different synthetic seat cover materials, which offer weight savings and more durability over traditional leather; more lightweight foam for the padding of seat backs; and a different container for life vests that should also save weight. |
