Aviation News Item: 00147 9th Nov 2009 Third search attempt to find AF447 black boxes postponed to February Source: ubmaviationnews.com A new search attempt to find the flight data and cockpit voice recorders of the Air France A330 that crashed into the South Atlantic on June 1 has been postponed to begin in February 2010, according to Alain Joyandet, France's co-operation minister. The Bureau d'Enquetes et d'Analyses (BEA), the country's air accident investigation authority, originally planned to start a third search attempt before the end 2009 after two efforts to locate the recorders had failed. Joyandet attended a memorial service in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday (November 7) amid strong criticism from victims that Air France had not been transparent about the accident and its possible causes, and also that the airline had not yet paid compensation to all families of the victims. |
