Qatar Airways and Etihad select LHT for cabin upgrade

Source: ubmaviationnews.com

Qatar Airways has contracted Lufthansa Technik (LHT) to modify the cabins of four A340-600 aircraft, and also to consult the airline for the construction and outfitting of an A380 maintenance hangar at Doha International Airport. Work on the A340 aircraft has already begun at the MRO provider's facility in Frankfurt, Germany. Each conversion is expected to take approximately 5,000 hours of work and should be completed in January 2010. C checks on the aircraft will be conducted simultaneously.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has commissioned LHT to install a new first class cabin in nine A340 aircraft. The cabin renovation work, from seat configuration to cabin design, galley areas and a new in-flight entertainment system, will be carried out at the MRO company's two sites in Hamburg, Germany and Malta, starting in January 2010. The work will take place during C checks that were already scheduled. All nine aircraft will be delivered to Etihad by the end of 2010.
